ScreamingPoets story

Singing, creating, and dreaming from Japan

1994 - 1999

In 1994, we made our major debut with the album "Niji-Gui(Rainbow Eater)". Our live performances, which combined the rare style of poetry reading and punk rock at the time, garnered attention, attracting a wide range of supporters from various genres including music, literature, and theater. Our lyrics, which were newly written (by the leader Durian Sukegawa) and revolved around the universe, resonated with the audience. Our sound incorporated elements from rock, full orchestra, gospel, and more. In 1999, we released our sixth album, "GOKU," but soon after, we went on hiatus after concluding a nationwide tour.

2023 -

We are set to make a comeback after an absence of approximately a quarter-century. During our long hiatus, the society's prominent members, Durian Sugawa and Hiroki Kiribayashi, have decided to revive the group.
